+ Who can live or work at Neighbourgood?

If you will enjoy being based in a community that values inclusivity and friendliness over anonymity, then we think you'll be a good fit!

+ What is coliving?

Convenience, comfort, community and inclusive living. Coliving is a modern form of housing where residents share living and communal spaces and experiences as well as interests, values and intentions. Whether you are a modern-day digital nomad, a freelancer or a young professional, coliving offers flexible terms to suit your unique schedule with the goal to keep you connected and help you feel right at home no matter how short or long your stay is.

+ What is coworking?

Coworking spaces are essentially shared workspaces. They offer affordable office space for those looking to escape the isolation of a home office or coffee shop. These shared workspaces offer a suite of office-like amenities such as hot-desks, private meeting rooms, kitchens, coffee and more. They also offer access to community & events that make the working experience that much more rewarding. Occupants typically are freelancers, entrepreneurs, start-ups and small teams who want to take advantage of a flexible space. In addition to culture, cost is another big draw. One of the advantages of cowork spaces is the ability to rent out only what you need vs an entire private office space, which can be costly. Through various membership based models, costs vary and allow for flexibility. These include options for daily fees or monthly fees. Membership costs also differ based on whether you use a private office, a shared desk or a dedicated one.

+ What type of events will I have access to?

Frequent events and experiences include fitness classes, communal dinners, workshops, and city excursions.

+ How often will my space be cleaned?

Depending on the location, tidy ups will be either weekly or bi-weekly. This will be clarified in your membership agreement – check with your Neighbourgood Community Manager for the specific services available in your building.

+ What’s included in the tidy up?

Depending on the location, cleaning services will include wiping down all surfaces, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping the floors, removing rubbish bin bags, changing linen and towels (for co-living members).

+ How do I submit a maintenance request?

Reach out to our Community Management team through the Neighbourhood App with any maintenance questions or concerns you have.

+ Does Neighbourgood offer short term stays?

Neighbourgood offers short term stays to our guests as part of our consolidated value-adds (location dependent).

+ Does Neighbourgood offer any bachelor apartments, one or two bedroomed apartments?

Each community has its own character, and some have traditional layouts, but there’s nothing regular about them. Members in traditional apartments still get the Neighbourgood experience with access to our communal activities and events, and premium services like cleaning services, all organized through our member app. The terms and conditions for these apartments are a bit different than our coliving suites, so if you have questions, please reach out to hello@theneighbourgood.co.za

+ What lease terms does Neighbourgood offer?

Our term lengths change seasonally and from community to community, but we typically have available a short (3-6 months), mid (6-12 months), or long (12-24 months) options available.

+ What is the breakdown of my monthly rental fee?

Your monthly membership fee includes a few things: your living or working space (which is the base rent for your space) plus an impact cost ( all utilities, streaming services, and internet), comfort cost (weekly cleanings and furnishings), and communal costs (experience, community and event programming).

+ What is your deposit amount?

Your security deposit is equivalent to one month's rental.

+ Can more than one person live in my Neighbourgood suite or apartment?

Rooms vary in size and amenities, making some more comfortable for sharing than others. Each suite has either a queen or double bed, and we do not provide additional beds. Please note that the communal fees for furnishings, shared consumables and utilities increase with each additional adult living in your suite with you.

+ Can I have a guest stay over at Neighbourgood?

Of course, this is your home! While overnight guests are welcome, you should follow your community's House Rules on maximum stays for guests. As a matter of common courtesy, please do your best to let your fellow community members know if you plan to have a guest stay for more than one night (especially in smaller groups or communities). Like any community member, your guests should be respectful of the community’s shared spaces and follow the House Rules. Ultimately, you're responsible for their actions so choose your friends wisely.

+ How and when do I pay my membership fee?

You can pay your membership fee via online bank transfer. Rent is due on the 1st of every month, after the 5th rent is considered late. A late fee will be added to your rent after the 5th. For a breakdown on your late fees, please see your membership agreement.

+ Can I bring my own furniture?

Yes! However, please check with our team first to coordinate what you are bringing. Storage and moving fees may be applicable.

+ What furniture comes with my apartment?

Your room comes furnished with all of the essentials including a bed (king, queen or double mattress depending on your location), nightstand and lamp. If your room doesn’t feature a closet, we’ll provide a standing wardrobe as well. Additional things like bedding, dresser or desk can be ordered through our Community Management team.

+ Do your communities have parking?

It varies by location. Parking may be at an additional monthly fee. But not to worry, as all of our Neighbourgood homes are centrally located in popular city hubs, close to public transport.

+ What specific amenities does each Neighbourgood have?

Each of our communities has its own personality and amenities, but communal space is at the focus of all of them! All have comfortable community living rooms with full kitchens, but they can also have things like gardens, wellness spaces and awesome rooftop decks.

+ Do we allow pets at our Neighbourgood?

This is location dependent, and by approval only.

+ Can I book an in-person or virtual tour to check out one of our Neighbourgood communities?

Absolutely! We recommend booking a tour before submitting an application.

+ What’s needed for my application?

We need income verification documents such as your most recent pay slip, 3 months of bank statements showing all income and your employment letter. We will also complete a credit check.
